The St Andrew’s project was by no means a small undertaking. We put together a commemorative book for adults, a children’s story book, and an installation, with a tight one-year deadline to cover 175 years of history. The results? Take St Andrew’s word for how the projects turned out.

Val, from Hyphen, reached out to us in July 2023, knowing we were approaching a significant milestone in 2025 – our 175th anniversary. From the outset, she was proactive, sharing samples and meeting with us in person.

We had been considering a commemorative book but knew it would be a substantial undertaking for our small team. With the support of our principal, Luke Ritchie, we presented the idea to our School Board. Approval came, with the condition that we include interactive elements, which led to the incorporation of QR codes showcasing videos of our contributors. Although this had not been done before, Hyphen embraced the idea and introduced a meaningful digital layer to the project.

Val and the team guided us through every stage, beginning with a detailed brief delivered to an exceptional standard. Author Ailsa Wild then worked closely with our community, drawing out rich stories and seamlessly interweaving them through the timeline, commemorative book and children’s book.

We officially began the process in September 2024 – giving ourselves an ambitious one-year timeline to complete two books. Val was open about the challenge, but together we committed, and we delivered right on time.

The response from our community has been overwhelmingly positive.
